sad to report...
The artist, who sang the 1972 hit Power of Love and was sampled by hip hop group OutKast, died on Monday in his hometown near Chicago, US music magazine Billboard said.
Simon was known also for US R&B chart-topper The Chokin Kind in 1969 and 1971’s Drowning in the Sea of Love.
His 1975 track Get Down, Get Down (Get on the Floor) Simon’s
highest entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at number eight. thanks pierre for letting me know.
RIP LEGEND

Big voice, sad news !
great singer with a beautiful voice, we'll always remember him
Very sad news. The great Joe Simon was one of the first artists I discovered when I started to dig deeper into classic soul from the 1960's and early 70's. I remember the excitement when I found a perfect copy of the "Drowning in the sea of love" album in a flea market. Shortly thereafter I found "The sounds of Simon" in a store for used records. I still have both albums, and they still sound great. R.I.P. Mr. Simon, you will be missed.
