Seeing as the marginal Rare series is going down so well as with Dusty,s rare album,i dug out this other very rare album form the legendary Sherry,s from Philly. The guys in Belgium must have had an eye on the lucrative Japanese market as they found a track by the girls in Japanese...Few of these tracks not on youtube or any where else on the web for that matter. Legends on the Northern scene with several records played over the years..In 1958, Little Joe Cook began putting a group together, the De-los, around his two daughters, Delphine Cook and Dinell Cook, with Delores "Honey" Wylie, Joyce and Clarence Smith, Student friends of his daughters. They changed their name to The Sherrys around 1961.By 1963 they underwent personnel changes and it was the cook girls plus their cousin Dolores "Honey" Wiley-Sowell aka TAMMI TERRELL who were left.They seemed to have fizzled out by the end of 1966."put your arms around me honey" was released on local philly imprints HOT & JJ Records.Their father little joe cook recorded this northern anthem first on the tiny Two-Jay records in 1965 as "I,m Falling in love with you baby" which is the better version in my opinion.Its included here as an added bonus. Joe was offered the job in the Soul Stirrers to replace Sam Cooke when he left but declined. More info in the CD liner notes below. First time ever on the web in Flac.
