Here,s a real old veteran of the northern scene Billy Harner. In the same bag as Dean Parrish,Mitch Ryder, Sandy Nelson, Wayne Cochran, et al...They are all white performers who have had countless tracks played on the scene and soul clubs, and this man is no exception. On first appearance you would never think he was a huge soul fan and recording artist. Those of you who have not heard of him or his records are in for a suprise!...there are afew pop tracks in there as well.He was Born in Pine Hill,Camden, New Jersey, across the Delaware from Philadelphia where he recorded some great records on the following labels:Lawn,Parkway,V-Tone,Kama Sutra,Kent,Open, Rock Hound,Paramount,66+6,BHM,Mel Omega,Sound Gems,Heritage,Midland Int,& Neroc.Only 2 albums recorded and a lot of 45,s booted. He did quite a few covers of well known soul songs his way. This album came out in 1969 on Open records with 10 tracks only but this glorious boot captures nearly everything the soul addicted fan needs with 20 bonus tracks. His records have been played and danced to in every venue i have attended over the years. I,ve always had a soft spot for billy, he worked his arse off to hit the big time but only had moderate local success 9as with the guys mentioned in my opening sentence in philly/New York, & L,A.There,s an interesting interview with the man over HERE. So you have raw no nonsense Northern soul laid bare !!!
