If you loved Kent,s Mod jazz series,a few were posted on the old blog, you,ll love this hammond based album. Billy was like Billy preston,Booker T jones etc...a master of the Organ. His albums 7 of them have sold steady over the years to diverse folk as UK Mods,beatniks,interlectuals,& soul/jazz fans alike. theres not much info out there about the man sadly but his music speaks for itself. Those clever guys in belgium who released this mispelt the title(lol). The album includes the full Pigmy album plus other club hits.Organist Billy Larkin & The Delegates immediately came to the attention of the Los Angeles jazz audience when their first record was released, but they also picked up a larger audience when people discovered they could dance to it. They had an appeal that far exceeded just the jazz listener.Basically an organ, guitar and drums jazz trio with heavy emphasis on the blues, Billy Larkin & The Delegates were a versatile and dynamic group that reached into all corners of music to come up with a distinctive style. They are best known for their hit 'Pigmy'. His records had a second lease of life in the soul/jazz clubs in the 70s/80.s in the UK.

Excellent post... I have the original 1964 Pygmy album, but all these bonus tracks are music to my ears.

similar in style to Bobby Moore and the Rhythm Aces. How can you go wrong with a Hammond. Well maybe Walter Wunderly but it was a staple in many soul bands in the UK. Really appreciated Wynder K Frog and Zoot Money. Saw Zoot Money at the Shoreline Club in Bognor (before it burned down). Mind you it was pretty hot in there. AAAAh what a night among many.
