Johnny Adams - South Side Of Soul Street The SSS Sessions (Remastered 2022) Sun - Rare Soul (FLAC)

Celebrating Sun Records 70th anniversary, these Johnny Adams tracks have been remixed from the original multitrack tapes for optimal sound quality. The new album tracklist has never been printed on vinyl, inspired by his 1986 South Side of Soul Street. The offering includes his hits “Release Me” and “Reconsider Me” as well as previously unreleased or digitally-unavailable tracks: “Tender Side of Me - Alternate”, “Too Much Pride - Alternate”, and a brand new version of “Give Me A Chance”. The man is another Genius and Legend of our music...Brilliant!

I picked this up over the weekend. Its a great re-mix of an old album, but they really did do a great job improving the sound quality. Reconsider me is such a stellar song and it really pops on this release. Any fan of Adams should grab it, and for the uninitiated, also look up his later day releases on the Rounder Records label.
Thanks for keeping the spirit of Johnny Adams alive, AMM!

I read that he performed regularly at Dorothy's Medallion Lounge in New Orleans in the 70's. Pity I wasn't there but if I played this and shut my eyes...............

@fluffyalbert
I went to see him at the Medallion Lounge many times. Amazingly, there was a large cage suspended in the air, and a rather large woman, scantily clad, would dance in it when the bands performed. Yeah, it was a one of a kind place.

Really looking forward to this.

Hi, Good to see all his SSS material together and in FLAC. May I have? Jerry

Further to the large scantily clad ladies performing with Johnny Adams. My wife and I went to see Bobby Rush a few years ago in a small club in the US and he was preceded by one such example who proceeded to shake everything. You should have seen my wife's jaw drop. They don't have that sort of thing in outback Australia!
