In the immortal words of the great Saxie Russell classic "Next we hit chicago" and thats we we are landing up today with more deep & sweet gems! Chicago in the 1950s was the place to go for the blues. In the 60s the music started to bring in elements from the black church and became known as soul. But the heavy hitting vocal styles still had that down home grit and the music producers carried on using those sledge hammer beats. And so the city got a new reputation as the center of hard soul. This CD brings together some of the finest examples of this approach. Deep and Gritty from the city - the Windy City's finest & a few Northern Gems thrown in for measure....Superb stuff!
