Ezy & Isaac - Soul Rock (1974)Ri Fi - Rare Soul

Thse guys are Ezekiel Hart & Isaac Olashugba who Recorded this gem of an album in Italy way back in 1974.Two Nigerians guys who sound very American with Ezy on vocals while Isaac was a saxophonist. They are ex-members of Fela Kuti’s band,A very famous African perfomer. They settled in Italy after working together all over Africa in various Gigs. The Funky Fella, a group of 12 top Italian musicians such as Maestro Leoni from Rifi records, produced three albums with Ezy and Isaac. The first one is called Soul Rock and is considered as a Soul masterpiece. It contains the bomb track called “Bawagbe” ; This track is very tuff, hypnotic afro-soul groove with ruff chants, congas, afro horns,& funky breaks and great percussion. It`s a very unique collectors’ item for the afro-funk and soul lovers. This is Heavy funk from the duo a record that has way more appeal than just its Afro-styled roots and a wicked vibe that would have been right at home in the farther reaches of the New York indie funk scene of the 70s! There’s a nice raw feel to the record that i really dig, and even some mellow soul moments that are equally compelling in their own sort of way. You,d think a top new York Soul Producer went to Africa to record a session, and came up with this gem in the process! It first came to my attention via the dancefloors of the NSS scene with the track " Not All Bad - Not All Good" so i hunted down the album for this track as it was an Italian only release at that time.Great and pleasant surprise when i checked out the whole album...Wow!!!
