Jasmine 3186 - Eddie Guitar Burns - I Love to Jump the Boogie (2021) - Rare Blues (FLAC 193MB)

Eddie was born in 1928 in Mississippi & passed in 2012. he was one of the few Detroit bluesmen to step to the forefront. He teamed up with John Lee Hooker as from 1948 and worked as a mechanic during the day and musician at night (harpist and guitarist). His younger brother is soul legend electric blues musician Jimmy Burns. He made records under his own name for many Detroit based labels & whilst never being a full time professional musician. This is the first CD to be devoted to the great Detroit bluesman who became hugely popular in the UK and Europe in the 1970s recording and touring regularly. i was lucky enough to catch a gig and wow! did he work the joint! In 1961 he recorded the classic 'Orange Driver' which surprisingly featured Marvin Gaye on drums. This is an interesting release and it closes with two singles Eddie recorded for the great Detroit harmonica player, Little Sonny featured on the last 5 tracks .Eddie recorded 8 studio albums & a dozen 45,s now collectors items. It,s staggering the amount of talented artists both Blues & Soul who migrated to the "D" from the Mississippi Delta.

Very interesting, maybe a bit too bluesy for me but the Marvin connection is enough to warrant a listen.
