Various Artists - The Sound Of Sidra (2010) OuttaSight + Booklet - Rare Detroit Northern Soul (FLAC 376MB)

Sidra Records of Detroit is another legendary label that came to prominance via the UK Northern Scene and collectors of their precious 45,s. It was owned by joseph brown, ray jackson & Joseph Cassey business investors. It got it's name from John Powers speculating in oil shares in the Gulf of Sidra. Powers real name was John L.J. Pavlik and he cut some discs for Fortune, Fox, Sun and Tee Pee as a rock-a-billy artist i,ve always thought he was the real driving force behind the label. He may well have owned Sound Incorporated Studios on Van Dyke and on North New Haven. Sub labels appear to include Sound, Oceanside, Teen Town, W.I.G., Walker, Maverick, Poo-Pan as Sidrian Music is shown on many releases. The DREW label was also shown as a subsidiary, and may have been the name of an offspring of the owner. Many of these songs are established Northern Soul classics and others may be heard for the first time and together they form an historic and important archive. Read the informative booklet lots of interesting info in there. A re-post from the old blog and upgraded to Flac. The drew label/Precisions was posted here in Flac     https://www.blogger.com/blog/post/edit/720383193154438165/7774925366340285657?hl=en
