Wee - You Can Fly On My Aeroplane (LP OWL 1977 - CD 2008 Numero + Booklet) - Rare Soul/Funk (FLAC 486MB)

One of Numero,s rarest CD,s now long deleted from stock. Featuring a one off album from this band from Columbus Ohio who consisted of norman Whiteside,Spanky Jones,Victor martim Benji Harres, & Bimbo Brown. For a debut album its such a good polished job and the sound engineers knew what they were doing on the tiny OWL label from that city. The LP originally had 9 tracks but Numero have dug in the vaults to expand it to 19 great tracks. Diggin on the web for further info i found that Wee mastermind Norman Whiteside, singer, songwriter and producer, lived a different life of his competitors in Columbus than Capsoul’s Bill Moss or Prix’s Clem Price, one would say a double life. Wee got their start in an unusual way. Whiteside was equally gifted as a musician as he was a criminal. He started out doing petty crimes as a child and made an attempt to turn it around by becoming a singer. He went to a small indie label in hopes to get signed. The trouble was they only wanted him as a songwriter since they weren’t sold on him as a singer. He accepted a job at the label, but hard times won over success. As such, Whiteside would continue his life in crime. After a mental illness plagued the original lead singer of Wee, Whiteside soon took his place as frontman. Between recording an album and other extracurricular activities, things seemed to be looking up for the band. Released on Owl Records in 1977, the album had a very limited run of barely a thousand copies. Owl Records tried to pitch the album to several major labels, but no one would bite. After a series of career disappointments, Whiteside pulled the plug on his musical career & Wee vanished from the scene and he ended up behind bars a year after the initial release of “You Can Fly On My Aeroplane”. Nothing more on him, what a tragic tale ?.....But what a damn fine album this is,so thank you Numero once again for digging up more obscure soul!

I don't know about you but I don't think this title has anything to do with flying on the aeroplane on the cover...
Thanks, AMM!
