Had a few requests for this superb series over the last few days. Many years ago i came across a blog from New Orleans run by a lady named Ana B called The Singing Bones . She shared an 18 volume series from her collection that was inherited from a relative. She sent the series but alas it got lost somehow in time. The audio on some tracks is not great as ripped from 45,s but it adds to the charm of the collection which is mainly from New Orleans but not entirely. There were never any back covers included so ive set that straight for the first time ever, but it meant retagging the tracks to do this which is time consuming but well worth it. Now thanks to a member stepping up the entire series will be reviewed on this blog as a personal tribute to Ana B & will continue when i have the time to work on them. I want to thank Pedro for providing this series that covers every genre of soul and lots of rare tracks now long gone. I never ever dreamed these would turn up after so many years! Ana,s last post was way back in 2012 and i have no idea why she stopped posting or indeed what happened to her since ?..This is one of the best series you will ever find on blogosphere believe me that showcases Soul Music, so thanks to Ana B for providing this series! Ana B's blog was very important for us New Orleanians in the aftermath of Katrina. It reminded us as to why NO was important and why we needed to get the city rebuilt. And, it also contains some unbelievable music, all from the city. Highly, highly recommend. I know Ana had some health issues, but not sure what happened.
I had all 18 but believe I lost most, if not all, in an hd crash. Many thanks for reviving this Pedro and AMM!
