The Sunday Documentary - The Allen Toussaint Quartet - Baloise Session (2015)
One of the last Performances of the New Orleans Legend, recorded in 2015 in Basel, Switzerland....Link below poster good for 7 days only.
Wow - never seen this before. That unkind morning, I was driving to my job waaay off in the middle of nowhere (for a good reason, since it was at a damn oil & gas refinery). Had the radio tuned into the local news station when the announcer did a teaser before the commercial break and advised that a local music icon had passed. Knowing that Fats had been in ill health for many years, I immediately thought it was him, and my mind was somewhat at ease with the thought that he would no longer be in pain. Then, when the commercials faded the name was revealed as that of Mr. Toussaint. Having seen him perform live less than 3 weeks before, I was absolutely crushed. Had to pull off the damn road, and wipe my face before having to explain to a bunch of fellow early morning grunts why the death of a fabled musician could mean so much to me. You are still missed, Mr. Toussaint. While your music soothes the soul, not seeing your smiling face leaves a void. Thanks, AMM.
