Bill Summers & Summers Heat - Cayenne (1977) Bellaphon - LP Only Release - Rare Soul/Funk/Jazz/latin (FLAC)

Bill was born in New Orleans in 1948 and a Billboard Music Award Winning and Multiple Grammy Award Nominee. He is New Orleans based Afro-Cuban Soul/Jazz/Latin  percussionist, a multi-instrumentalist who plays primarily on conga drums. Summers is probably most well known due to his work with Los Hombres Calientes along with his friend and co-leader of the group, trumpeter Irvin Mayfield. However, despite this musical relationship, Summers has a much longer musical career than that, often working behind the scenes on film scores for various movies such as The Color Purple and the television miniseries Roots with Quincy Jones. He also played with Herbie Hancock during The Headhunters years, and is mentioned in passing of The Headhunters' 2003 release Evolution Revolution as contributing to that recording. He recorded 7 studio albums with summers heat and 4 solo projects, a giant in the jazz/funk scene back in the day. This is still a Vinyl only release as far as i am aware....

Bill is still very much alive, well, and performing in NO. He split with Mayfield several years ago. Mayfield was just released from the federal penitentiary, after having been convicted of stealing federal grant money from a non-profit that he serves as the president.
Looking forward to this one, AMM!
