The only offical album release by the funks apart from "standing in the shadows". The leader and backbone was Earl Van Dyke. All the info was in the bookets of previous albums reviewed on Ace/Kent. Their is a boot on Marginal coming soon of more unreleased tracks. For anyone out there who doesnt know these guys they were the backing band behind all the Motown records released (and unreleased)..but you all knew that! Great photo on back cover of James Jamerson, Bass Guitar & Innovator to this day still copied (his style of playing). My fave track is the 3rd taster but i like the lot!

I may have them all in a corner but since I'm lazy and I don't have this CD, these marvelous instrumentals come at just the right time.

Another top review MM, thank you.

thanks for reviewing The Godffathers of the Motown beat !
A must have for any aficionado of the funky Motown sound. Love all of those songs from that era. The only other musicians comparable would be the crew for Muscle Shoals, They were to Stax what the Funk Brothers were to Motown. Thanks AMM!
