The Teri Nelson Group - Sweet Talkin' Teri - (1968) Kama Sutra (Vinyl Release) - Rare Soul (FLAC 113MB)

RARE SOUL BONANZA TODAY!......The Northern Scene has over the years introduced to me some artists i would otherwise never have heard. This album contains several very rare dancers (not released on 45 but found through a few Demo,s) from a one off album of uptempo soul. Played out at The Golden Torch club (Stoke On Trent). The rare version of "S.O.S heart In Distress" (Christne Cooper on Parkway) is here. Although the name suggests otherwise, this was not a group. By contrast it was named for Teri Nelson, a then young female vocalist from Harlem, New York. During the late 1960s, the Super K Production company offered the then eighteen year old soloist a one year contract. After recording a few singles, Nelson's studio sessions were compiled into an album, which the Kama Sutra label released in 1968 purportedly without her knowledge or permission and promoted it as a group effort, the artists pictured alongside Nelson on the album's cover are backing vocalists The Crystals from the recording sessions. Nelson withdrew from her arrangement thereafter disgusted at her treatment and vanished from the music business.

The tasters are mighty fine. I think I passed this over in the cut-out bins a few decades ago.
