Various Artists - Wheedle's Groove - Seattle's Finest in Funk & Soul 1965-75 (2004) - Light In The Attic - Rare Soul & Funk (FLAC 366MB)

The name Wheedle’s Groove is named after the official mascot of the the Seattle supersonics Basketball Team. Each track on this compilation is an untold musical history lesson of seattle,s Black Music scene tucked away in the north west of the USA. It’s one of those things where you kind of had to be there, to get the full effect of what Seattle was like in the late ‘60s and early ’70s, like anywhere else. Seattle had a history rich in music with their most famous son being Jimi Hendrix. Back then, petrol cost you 27 cents a gallon in that city to fill up your car. There was no Seahawks (gridiron football), no Mariners (baseball), or Microsoft or Amazon. Girls were still named Frances and Darlene being the most popular in that city, and guys were known by Freddie and Arthur again most popular names. Garfield and Franklin were the leading high schools for setting Seattle’s soulful social standards. Dick’s and Dag’s were the spots for twenty-nine-cent burgers, while Helen’s Diner was (and still is) known for the best soul food on the West Coast. TJ’s and Mr. D’s were the clothing stores where most of the brothers shopped, and the CD, the Central District, was (and still is) the heart and soul of the city. There was a minimum of twenty live music clubs specializing in funk and soul, and all those joints were jumpin & jammed Packed, again similar to the UK back then. There was circa 25 live bands playing four sets a night from 8 pm till the wee small hours of the morning. Each night, some band, somewhere, was kickin’ it if you loved your soul music, not like the UK back then when were were starved of clubs & artists till the onset of the late 1960,s ?early 1970,s.. This is the first of 3 albums coming to highlight the black music scene in seattle also famous for its coffee! The CD is short of 3 tracks that were issued on the double LP , so ive ripped the CD for better sound and also included the 3 LP tracks so you guys dont miss out, 3 LP tracks listed under Back Cover.
