Incognito - Jazz Funk - LP (1981) Ensign - CD (1992) Ensign Expanded - Soul/Jazz/Funk (MP3)

Londons own powerhouse Soul/Jazz/Funk band. This was their debut album and what a way to introduce yourselves to the music world...Wow!...Still sounds as fresh today as back when it was first released..Incognito was a project with an amazingly long history that has its roots in the jazz and funk world of the 70s. It was founded by Jean-Paul ''Bluey'' Maunick and Paul ''Tubbs'' Williams. Both played in Light of the World, which played a cross between disco and funk. After the release of Light of the World's third record called ''Check Us Out'', Maunick and Williams slightly changed the line-up and renamed the group Incognito. Incognito began their career with the single ''Parisienne Girl''. In the same year, their first LP, Jazz Funk, was released, however, for the next ten years, Incognito did not play anything or release any albums. In the early 90s, the legendary DJ and one of the first fans of the band Giles peterson founded the studio Talkin' Loud and began a large scale collaboration with the musicians. In 1991, in the wake of the rapid development of the acid jazz genre in the UK, the Incognito single ''Always There'' hit the top ten songs, after which the second Incognito album was released under the name ''Inside Life''. The album was for the most part a studio album, with many talented musicians from all over the UK taking part in the recording. In 1992, to participate in the recording of the album ''Tribes, Vibes & Scribes'', Maunick first invited the famous American vocalist Maysa Leak. The hit of that time was the cover version of the song ‘’Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing’’ in the original performance of Stevie Wonder. The album broke into the British pop charts and the American contemporary jazz charts. Incognito's third album, ''Positivity'', became the most successful in the history of the group, concentrating on itself the attention of the public throughout Europe. This was followed by less successful, but no less high-quality and the original albums ''100 and Rising'', ''Beneath the Surface'' and ''No Time Like the Future''. Project Incognito does not have a permanent list of participants, this project is the dream and reality of one man known as Jean-Paul ''Bluey'' Maunick. Since the project's inception in 1981, many musicians have collaborated with it. The project leader does not single out anyone in particular, according to him, this approach allows us to ‘’support many talents and at the same time teaches us all modesty, which is so lacking in many projects today. When compiling the list of participants for the album ''No Time Like the Future'', Maunick called all the musicians together ''The Incognito Family'' (''The Incognito Family''). The 2008 album "Tales from the Beach" is dedicated to the memory of the untimely deceased Paul "Tubbs" Williams, a longtime associate of Jean Paul Maunick. In 2010, the band played a concert on the occasion of their 30th anniversary. In the same year, a new album by Transatlantic R.P.M. was released.Since then they released 5 more studio albums with "bluey" Jean Paul Maunick releasing 3 solo albums ,4 as a member of Citrus,& 1 with tony remy.

Got the album from back in the day, but it hasn`t aged too well, it would be nice to have a pristine copy!
