The Northern Scene Jocks have done some digging in the strangest of Genres to find those elusive Floor killers. This album being a prime example. Out of the 9 tracks on the LP right at the end was a storming version of Homer Banks Classic " A Lot Of Love"This was Bluesman Taj Mahal,s debut album. I still have mine on UK Direction sadly worn out. Apart from the killer track this album has stood the test of time and is a Blues/Soul Classic! He was born Henry St. Claire Fredericks in harlem, New york in 1942 and would go on to record a further 63 albums and work with nearly every famous & not so famous artists in Music. You can read all about the man HERE. Way back in the 1960,s i didnt appreciate what a great album this is or the blues either...With age comes wisdom...if your lucky!

Taj Mahal isn't really my cup of tea but this LP, which I don't know, still seems interesting to me.

Looks like an interesting listen AMM
many thanks Reb
Thanks AMM. Nice to hear some bluesy soul from Taj.
This is an amazing album - seminal in the genre of acoustic blues. Have had it since it was first released back in the late 60s and have probably listened to it on avg of once every two weeks throughout my life. Not a bad track to be found on it. Please do yourself a favor and grab this and set aside time when you can really give it a listen. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Thanks, AMM for passing on the gospel of Taj!
you Pmac are a man of exceptional taste!
I think it's the first time I see this album sounds interesting I'll have to hear it
Of course I am, AMM. I'm a member of this august community! ;-)
Underrated artist, great to see this reviewed.
Great Review Thank you AMM
Thanks for the review, an artist I have flicked in the past but this should be an eye opener and maybe ripe for my education.
Great review of a great album
One of my favourite Taj Mahal tracks is 'Statesboro Blues', and this LP is from the same era... gotta be worth a listen :)
Many thanks for the review AMM

Taj Mahal at first I would just skip by his name. As I grew to appreciate his music, I found out that he was tough. Thanks AMM for this post.
thanks for this AMM; to me "northern soul" was unappreciative back then!
Interestingly new territory for me. Thanks AMM for the review!!
