Now heres a CD that i stumbled across that i havent seen for years reminding me of a close friend who passed away. This was his copy that he ripped for me in mp3 as he wasnt a fan of flac, i used to joke with him about that. Smegga was a great fella who used to go on TZ quite a lot till his passing. I,m sure i have the actual CD but like everything with me its finding the damn thing! Smegga was a mammoth collector like myself & his record collection was sold off, Myself and moxy never got a look in even though we were his best friends as his son didnt like us, and was only interested in making money from his collection. The three of us were great m8,s going back to schooldays. Bless him he even scaned the covers for me. I did post the original LP that only contains 9 tracks a while back in August 2021 in mp3 format and can post that up again in flac if anyone wants that copy. But the CD has 16 tracks of which 5 were unissued, Smegga said it was a limited issue CD and he bought one of the last copies. Its not even listed on the web anywhere and long deleted. I,m still not sure if this was a boot or not ? Bobby Story was the pseudonym of Texan Bobby Patterson and this a rare album even to CD as well as to LP. The tracks were actually recorded between ’66-’77 but stayed in the can ’til Bobby let them free in the early 80s. The light disco ‘Brick Layer’ opens proceedings but the real gems are the slower, narrative cuts like the bittersweet ‘Right Place/Wrong Time’ and southern gem ‘I Fell Asleep (One Time Too Many). The killer cuts also come in the form of the bubbling modern/crossover gem ‘If Every Man Had A Woman Like You’ and the popping ‘Lets Do Something Different’. He lives up to his Storyteller moniker on cuts like the bright dancer ‘I Got A Suspicion’ and the slower ballad ‘I’ll take Care Of You’. This is one of those rare albums where every track engages, perfectly balancing slower numbers with uptempo cuts that were big on the Northern scene sadly not on youtube so cant taste em!. Brilliant Soul so don’t miss this at your peril!!.

Thanks AMM. Nice personal story too.
Thanks AMM for the review of this previously unknown disc.
I don't need this AMM, but I just want to tell you how much I enjoyed the story of you, Moxy, Smegga and his son. Funny how how you see a name for many years-Smegga- and then it just disappears. I always hope for the best, but sometimes it's bad news. RIP, Smegga.
