Diana Ross, Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson Originally Known As The Primettes Subsequently Known As The Supremes Featuring Al Garner C/W Eddie Floyd – Looking Back - (LP 1968 Ember-CD 1998 Ember) (MP3)86.5MB

This is now a mega rare album that was released only in the UK on vinyl & CD and no where else in the world. The uniqueness of the album is its pure Detroit through and through also the covers depict the 2 main artists The Primettes on front and Eddie Floyd on back with no info apart from whats on the label. Ember made a massive error in not listing the true artists on the label in their hurry to cash in on the then Motown frenzy back in the 1960,s in England. The CD release did remedy this in 1998 with the true artists listed correctly. I still have the LP, though now in a pitiful condition and sold the CD to a well known UK northern jock for silly money as both long deleted. I got a request for this and have been feverishly hunting it out in my collection as i didnt know if i had backed up and bingo here it is as i did. This is a great representation of what the Detroit Sound was all about! Again you will not find this rarity anywhere else on the web only on this blog. The Primettes were created by the late Florence Ballard and consisted of her, Betty McGlown-Travis, Mary Wilson & Diana Ross. They were mainly backing singers for LuPine & Motown labels before they changed their name to The Supremes & hit the big time. All now sadly passed away apart from Diana Ross. The marv Johnson track isnt featured on any of his albums and not on youtube, an unreleased gem! As usual many played out on the northern scene.
