For me this is one of the most important Northern Soul CD's because it contains the classics from the Decca vaults not available elsewhere. There are also classics from the vaults of ABC and a few others. These were names from advertisements for all-dayer and all-nighters in the seventies, Lee Roye - Tears, Jean Carter - Like One, Willie Hutch - Love Runs Out, Lada Edmund Jnr - The Larue and the best Earl Jackson - Soul Self Satisfaction. (Why did they miss Earl Grant - Hide Nor Hair off this CD?).Not a bad track on this CD, it's a must have

A bit of info for the geeks like me
Earl Jackson - Soul Self Satisfaction was released in Lebanon of all places
Willie Hutch - Love Runs Out was released in France

The good old BBC continues its homage to Northern soul (you’ll recall the mighty Northern Soul Prom, they broadcast!) with a whole night of “Northern” tunes – a proper all-nighter if you would!
This coming Saturday, September 9th, BBC Radio 6 Music is devoting it’s whole evening schedule (and on into Sunday morning) to the magic of Northern soul. We’re told that the event is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Wigan Casino.
The evening kicks off at 6pm with a Northern Soul special. Presented by Craig Charles, there’ll be a live band, music from the Flirtations and a guest cameo from Richard Searling. At 9 Stuart Maconie joins Craig to front a radio repeat of the aforementioned Prom concert.
The first four hours of Sunday morning delivers an investigation of legendary venues like the Wheel, the Casino and the 100 Club, then at 4am there’s to be a “morning after” mix – mellow tunes for the wee small hours. To round things off Stuart Maconie back at 7am. He promises us an eclectic mix – including, of course, the famous Three Before Eight!
