Various Artists - Penny & The Quarters & Friends (2022) Numero 115 LP Only - Rare Deep Soul (FLAC 233MB)

"you and Me" a demo by Penny and the Quarters simply refused to stay lost. For 40 years, the song sat silent in a box of reels before Film Star Ryan Gosling selected it to star in 2010’s indie weeper "Blue Valentine". Teenagers at the time, the members of Penny & the Quarters were invited to audition by Harmonic Sounds Studio in Columbus, Ohio, recording three demo songs in all. The group consisted of Nannie "Penny" Coulter (Sharpe), and her three brothers, Johnny, Donald and William. The power of the track set off an international treasure hunt in pursuit of the mysterious artists behind it. Since then, “You and Me” has sound tracked thousands of weddings, spawned hundreds of YouTube covers, and tugged heartstrings for scores of advertisements and films. Fifteen years after Eccentric Soul: The Prix Label became Numero’s worst selling compilation, Numero reanalyzed the tapes and selected 12 equally-as-fascinating rehearsals caught by engineer Clem Price in Columbus, Ohio, in 1970. I,ve been on at AMM to do a review of the Prix Label so hopefully wont be too long eh lad ?. Not a dancer in sight only for fans of Deep/Raw Soul (like me & him🤣AMM) Numero certainly dont spend much on artwork as most of their albums art is crap most back covers are blank ? so whats the point in that ?

Moxy, this is a killer. The real deal. We need all genres of soul to balance it all out. I listen to sweet, funk, deep and northern. Love it all. Thanks, AMM.
