Various Artists – Tangled Up In Blues - Songs Of Bob Dylan(1999) House Of Blues + Booklet - Blues/Soul (FLAC)

Continuing on with Black Artists (mainly) performing Dylan songs is another interesting album featuring a few of our heroes. one of my fave Dylan compositions is "All Along The Watch Tower" executed so brilliantly by the Genius of Jimi hendrix back in the 1960,s. A superb version featured on this CD by Larry McCray, born in Arkansas but raised in Detroit. Other highlights are the offerings of Isaac Hayes, Mavis Staples, R.L. Burnside ,& The great Taj Mahal. While covering Bob Dylan songs certainly isn't a novel idea, it's potentially a very interesting idea to have contemporary Blues/Soul musicians/vocalists perform Dylan compositions. Dylan's songs do sound tremendously authentic in this context anyway, and most of the artists present give them refreshing readings. Unfortunately Dylan leaves me cold as a performer, but what a great song writer he is without question and these guys give his songs a whole new upgrade feel IMHO!..Cracking album with a few tracks not for me.
