Captured during his live appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in July 1980, this highly energetic concert reinforces Marvin Gaye as the undisputed prince of Motown. He performs many of his timeless classics, including Let’s Get It On, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, What’s Going On and I Heard It Through the Grapevine, resulting in thundering appreciation and applause from his audience. One of the most gifted talents to come up through the ranks of the Motown label, Marvin Gaye paved the way for the unrelenting progression of popular black tracks. My only criticism is that sometimes the band drowns him out but it was back in 1980 and tech not so great then.

Thanks AMM Yeh it,s Monday viewing for me and must say that back in the 6/7T's must bands seem to drown the singers as you say technology was not as good also tended to sing quicker when live Will enjoy this one

Many thanks for providing this xlnt vid. Marvin is definitely up there. Is he the best? I'll be diplomatic and say that others might be as good but they won't be better.
