In my early days as a Soul fan most of the Soul I used to hear was at the local youth club or at mates houses and usually belonged to my friends older brothers, a couple of these used to talk about a club they went to in Stoke called The Torch. I was far to young to go but loved the music nonetheless, these were the sounds of my youth. We referred to them as "Torch sounds". Now 50 years later they still remain among my favourite records. For me this is Soul at its finest. This is also Goldmines finest hour. Compiling this post I was using scans that I got off the web years ago but soon realized the booklet was not complete, so to bring you all the best quality I have re-scanned it all and taken the liberty of leaving out the three blank pages hence the odd number, enjoy

THANK YOU OldSoul Rebel and AMM! Excellent post!! I believe it was Dave Godin who first coined the phrase " Northern Soul" in his column in Blues and Soul magazine after a visit to The Wheel.
