Sandy Mercer was born in Gary, West Virginia
and found her main popularity in the late ’70s. She began singing when
she was five years old and while attending school, she was allowed to
leave the classroom to perform in talent shows.
Sandy has performed with & provided
background vocals for artists such as Bobby Womack, Santana, Bill
Howard, O.V. Wright, Double Trouble, the Bar Kays & Smoke. In 1978 she released her debut & only album Reviewed here. it’s unknown if the album charted at all,The only tracks to chart from the album were “Play With Me / You Are My
Love” one of only 5 singles released which peaked at #11 on Billboard’s National Disco Action Top 40
chart, staying on the chart for 14 weeks .After that, nothing much was heard from Sandy until 2004 when she
released her second album, “Keeping It Real” independently, the album is
available on CDBaby. Since then, it appears as if she’s faded into
obscurity again. This is a great all round soul album featuring her popular club tracks...I was surprised to get a request for this rarity produced by well known Landy McNeal!
