Numero,s latest offering is finally here..Operating in a basement studio Howard Neal and his appropriately named Shoestring label was based in Alton, Illinois’ on the banks of the Mississippi. Pressed in small numbers and barely outside the local area the singles by The James Family, Jimmie Green, Pete & Cheez, and Carletta Sue are prime examples of cosmic midwestern soul/funk/disco in search of a break.Its a label i confess to knowing nothing about so the 45,s must have been scarce all 7 of them including a 12 inch and album LP only release and expensive by "Howard Neal and friends"self named..all released between 1978-1983.Apart for diggin for more info on him nothing relevant apart from he was also a local DJ. Not exactly what i was expecting form Numero!
