Kent 445 - Harmony Of The Soul - Vocal Groups 1962-1977 (2016) + Booklet - Rare Soul (FLAC)

Sweet ’n’ cool American group soul from the late 60s/early 70s. Includes nine previously unheard harmonic delights prior to this release.Since this occasional series began in 2003, group soul has become an increasingly collectable genre. Its popularity has long since spread beyond those doo wop fans who first started to declare an interest when the 1950s rarities they originally coveted became too expensive to afford without a lottery win. Once again Ady Croasdell & Tony Rounce have combed all sorts of catalogues to bring you a satisfying selection of vocal group sounds. Kents regular mix of name acts and complete obscurities always seems to hit the spot. The majority of their selections are making their CD debut and this time nine tracks make their CD debut. California is represented by Vernon Green & the Medallions, the Turn Arounds, the San Francisco TKOs, Choice Of Colors and many others of highly commendable status. Detroit and Chicago weigh in with the Webb People, Brothers Of Soul, the Smith Brothers and the Steelers, to name just a few. Group soul on the East Coast comes to you courtesy of New Jersey’s Pretenders, while the south have yielded buried treasures in the shape of previously unissued goodies from Alabama’s Bobby Moore & the Rhythm Aces and Memphis’ Mad Lads and Del-Rios featuring future Ovations frontman Louis Williams. Add to that Special Delivery from Washington DC, Ohio’s Imaginations and more good stuff from all over the USA. A serious killer album!...But then again all kent,s are!..Deep and Sweet soul at its best!

AMM

Another excellent review. Haven't heard some of these in years. Terry Huff and Special Delivery take me back to high school with "I Destroyed Your Love". Used to get a sore throat trying to sing the song while slow dancing with the girls LOL!!!
