The Lost Generation - The Sly, Slick And The Wicked-Young, Tough And Terrible ... Plus (1999) Edsel - Rare Soul/Funk (FLAC)

Now this is a real gem and long deleted. These guys only recorded two albums and a handful of 45,s. The backbone of the group were brothers Lowell & Fred Simon who comprised the group along with Larry Brownlee & Jesse Dean all from Chicago. Their only chart success came in 1970 with the single "the sly, slick & wicked"..The group were introduced to Carl Davs at Brunswick Records in 1969 where 'The Sly, Slick and Wicked' was released. The song was so popular that it generated sufficient income for Brunswick to buy themselves out from parent company Decca and become an entity on their own. A parent album followed the single release and a subsequent 45 entitled, the Eugene Record penned, 'Wait A Minute' was released. The group, also scored another R & B hit wth 'Talking The Teenage Language', which charted 1971.  The Lost Generation saw one other chart hit entitled 'Your Mission (Should You Decide To Accept It)' before they went their separate ways in 1974.  Interesting to note that Lowrell Simon was the original lead singer and songwriter, an artist later to achieve success with the Soul song "Mellow Mellow, Right On" as LOWRELL later in the decade that became a huge smash here in the UK and most of Europe. Lowrell was an ex member of the group The LaVondells, as was Jesse Dean, That group later to become simply the Vondells who had a few great dancers on the northern scene. Larry Brownlee was an original member of the group the C.O.D.'s, who recorded for the Kellimac label during the mid Sixties and scored quite a few great dancers on the scene. The good news here is that their albums and bonus tracks are included in this superb album. Chicago artists seem to have special harmonies that make them stand out from the crowd, though very few of them find the success they deserve. This is group SOUL sung as it should be...Powerful, sweet, harmonies !
