I first became aware of this label when 45,s started to filter through in the early 1970,s with the striking purple design of the label, it got your attention and when i played the records it became clear here was a refreshing label that meant business! The label was originally from St. Albans, New York & Owned by brothers Gary Lamont De Berry Sr. and Deek DeBerry(ceo) who were also members of the band along with Clarence Bassett, Denzil Miller, Diane Jenkins, The tracks here are the ones that were most popular with the record buying public and soul fraternity in general, as there were over 60 odd released records on 45,CD, and Cassette format on the label. Diane Jenkins was the lead vocalist and released four 45,s under her own name on the label. I got this sent early on in the year by an ex colleague currently still working in the business but had mislaid it. Fortunately it was sent again by a member & good friend of the blog a few days ago, i have since located both albums but the shout out goes to our friend Hakase! Lots of the tracks were played out on the northern scene and well known to soul & funk fans/collectors alike. These albums invoke great memories of blackpool mecca,s highland Room where DJ,s Curtis & levine first broke them in the UK..The label ran from 1972 for 20 years before winding up, as for these artists no more info on their whereabouts?
